Facilitating Role-based Networks

Picture
Where possible All Manner of Things couples one-to-one role-based mentoring and development with the creation, facilitation, and support of (facilitated, yet self-organising) cohorts, networks and communities of practice; harnessing the momentum of shared purpose and collective intelligence in the pursuit of a purpose that is bigger than the individual:
"When I first became an Associate Dean Research I had only the most basic understanding of the role. I was fortunate, however, in meeting Pippa who was leading a professional development program for a cohort of Associate Deans. Through Pippa’s outstanding facilitation of these cohort meetings and workshops I was able to expand my knowledge of the role, understand its place in the university, develop new skills, and operate with greater effect. I also worked with Pippa, one to one, and benefited immensely from her insights and suggestions. Working with her has been a pleasure. It has also been one of the most important experiences of my executive career in universities."
Professor Geoffrey Stokes,
Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research & Innovation
College of Business, RMIT University
"Scientists have discovered that the small, brave act of cooperating with another person, of choosing trust over cynicism, generosity over selfishness, makes the brain light up with quiet joy."
Natalie Angier

Supporting Communities of Practice

“Where possible, programs should be underpinned by evidence-based insights into effective professional practice in the specific leadership roles involved. In doing this it is recommended that universities investigate ways of setting up learning networks for people in the same role, in particular Heads of School, A/Deans and Heads of Program.”

Culture change and Systems of Influence...

Over time, the collective intelligence and good will that fuels  purpose-led, role oriented and community led practices can produce an extraordinary ripple effect...Gradually (and sometimes suddenly!) working cultures that really can adapt in the face of complex challenges and change begin to emerge.
